Why I Love Writing!
By Amelia Kane
At first, I didn’t really care about writing. It wasn’t until I joined the Recess Writers club in first grade, that I realized it was really fun!
I started to attend it more often, and my work grew with my imagination. A little while after, still in first grade, my class started working on a new project; reports on animals! I chose a golden eagle. I learned all about them, wrote pages on them, then turned them into a book! I was so excited to write so many pages and words!
We were still doing Recess Writers in second grade, when I decided to work on writing more at home too. Along with Recess Writers in second grade, we also did something called Writer’s Workshop, it’s where we watched our teacher, or a video, teach strategies, and then we tried it ourselves. We also had to write our Living Legends script, and memorize it too!!!
One of my favorite writing pieces is something I created in third grade; my adventure story! I wrote about 14 pages, and that doesn’t even include the front cover, title page, table of contents, about the author, and the back cover! Writing this much on such short notice and limited time made it a little stressful for me, but writing this much was really fun and I want to do it again (just as long as there is unlimited time to create my book).
I love writing on an open page with unlimited possibilities, with my sharp mind, with a sharp pencil! My teachers have supported me in any way imaginable, and more! I have written many beginnings, middles, and ends, but what I notice is that any place can be a setting, any person can be a character, and any life can be a story!
Well, I’ll leave you with that. Now get to class!
