Help Our Animals

By Elsie Orwig, Maddie Peterson, and Emmi Callahan

We know a dog whose name is Luna, and she is a Labrador-Retriever. What’s special about Luna is that she is not chocolate, black, or yellow like other Labs; her hair is silver. But, there is a cost for having silver hair. All of her hair is falling out, and not growing back. In the winter, she is so cold, and sometimes, she shivers. It is sad to watch. So, Luna’s family went online, looked for a very long time, and found a dog jacket. Since then she has not been cold.

We also know a hamster named Mr. Fluffball who needed lots of supplies and food to take care of him. His owner took very good care of him and he lived a happy life because that is what people do for their pets. Imagine if YOU were an animal and you were cold because all of your hair fell out and you had no coat. How would you feel if your owner wasn’t able to feed you or take care of you because it was too expensive? Wouldn’t that be terrible? There are animals right now in Santa Barbara County that are cold, shivering, and sad like Luna, or hungry and needing care like Mr. Fluffball. We want to help them, and we think you should donate pet supplies, like jackets, and pet food to pets who live in our community but are less fortunate.

As a 4th grade class, we have partnered with a special organization. CARE 4 Paws is an organization that helps all pets and pet owners in Santa Barbara County and Texas. They help bring life-saving services, like veterinarians, “to low-income, senior, disabled, and homeless pet owners.” During the Covid-19 pandemic, CARE 4 Paws made life better for less fortunate pet owners and pets. Think about how hard it would be to keep an animal organization going during the pandemic! That is why CARE 4 Paws is an amazing organization, and we’re here today to get your help!

CARE 4 Paws is an awesome organization that needs donations to support less fortunate pets and pet owners, and they need our help. Starting Monday, April 26, 2021, our 4th-grade class will begin a Pet Food and Supply Drive at Cold Spring School. You can donate things like pet collars, pet beds, fish tanks, and pet food to help animals in need! Just like people, animals need food and other things! We will be collecting donations before and after school in the front of Cold Spring School from 7:55-8:10 am and 1:30-1:45 pm. The Pet Food and Supply Drive will be happening from Monday through Friday. So, we think that you should consider donating to this cause!

In conclusion, we think that you should donate pet food and supplies to CARE 4 Paws during our Pet Food and Supply Drive happening next week from Monday, April 26th through Friday, April 30th. CARE 4 Paws helps pets in need and now CARE 4 Paws now needs our help, so please donate next week!
