A Shout-Out to Our Community

By:  Dr. Amy M. Alzina, Cold Spring School District Superintendent

The Cold Spring School District expresses it’s heartfelt gratitude to the local Montecito community and the greater Santa Barbara community.  The students and families of our community were able to stay connected during the COVID-19 pandemic in large part due to the contributions of the community.

Cold Spring School has provided a robust five-day per week,  in-person learning experience for the past five months.  During this time, there have been zero COVID-19 infections on our campus.  This was achieved in large part due to the collaboration of our neighbors, local businesses, and the greater Santa Barbara community.  For this, we are eternally thankful.

Local firms and organizations, like “The Easter Team” from Berkshire and Hathaway and Village Properties, contributed to our safe, stimulating outdoor student learning spaces.  The Easter Team graciously purchased outdoor dry-erase whiteboards for every classroom teacher; Village Properties purchased a large tent structure to support our fifth grade outdoor learning classrooms. These are only a few examples of the many generous contributions made by local businesses and our families.  Opening our doors to students would not have been possible without all of  these generous donations.

Staying connected with our families and the community is part of our core mission and is ingrained in our values as a District.  Our “whole child” approach to teaching and learning ensures that we are serving  the social and emotional, as well as, the academic needs of every student.  The support we received from the community allows us to do what we love--meet the individual needs of every student.  Thank you for your continued support.
